Valentine Signs

I love creating signs for a fun Valentine display at home. I created 4 quick and easy Valentine signs that painters or crafters of any level can do using their own hand writing and just a few stencils.

Let’s start with the “Be Mine” Sign:
What you will need:
DecoArt Americana:
Peony Pink
Berry Red
Snow White

Additional Supplies:
Narrow Table Top Sign
Quilt Block Stars & Hearts Stencil
Alpha Stencil 101 – set of 2
Alpha Stencil 103
Darice Fine Line Paint Pen Set
Sanding Pads

Sand the front and back of your table top sign. Wipe off dust. Paint all sides with Peony Pink, let dry and sand again. Wipe off dust, and paint a second coat of Peony Pink.

Plan the placement of your letters with your stencil, I laid the stencil down and lightly traced with a pencil to make sure I had the placement the way I wanted it. Then, with Snow White, stencil your letters in place…I started with the word “Mine” using the Alpha Stencil 101. Next I did the word “Be” using Snow White and Alpha Stencil 103. Make sure to let your letters dry before laying the stencil down again to do your next letter, you don’t want to smear your paint. The heart was stenciled with Berry Red and the heart on the Quilt Block Stars & Heart Stencil. Using the White Fine Line Paint Pen, draw scallops around the outside edge of the sign…you can skip this part if you don’t want it, or you could even do some stitch marks…the decision is yours. Outline the hear with Snow White.

The next three signs use the same wood set…Large Blocks Set of 4

“Love” Sign:
What you will need:
DecoArt Americana:
Berry Red
Snow White

Additional Supplies:
Alpha Stencil 101 – set of 2
Sanding Pads

Sand all sides and wipe off dust. Paint the entire wood piece Berry Red. Let dry and sand again. Paint a second coat of Berry Red and let dry. Using the Alpha Stencil 101 and Snow White, stencil the letters into place making sure to let the paint dry before laying the stencil down again. Have fun with this one, you can stencil the letters any way that you want.

“Happy Valentine’s Day” Sign:
What you will need:
DecoArt Americana:
Berry Red
Snow White

Additional Supplies:
Darice Fine Line Paint Pen Set
Sanding Pads

For this sign, you will use the two smallest wood blocks from the set. Sand both and wipe off dust. Paint the small block Snow White, the larger block Berry Red. Let dry, sand again, and paint a second coat on both blocks. I chose to use my own hand lettering for this project. I played with two types of writing so that the blocks would stand out. On the Snow White block paint your lettering with Berry Red. On the Berry Red block, I chose to trace over my letters using the White Fine Line Painting Pen, you can choose to us a liner brush and Snow White if you would like.

“Love, Luv, Love” Sign:

What you will need:
DecoArt Americana:
Peony Pink
Snow White

Additional Supplies:
Curly Words Stencil
Sanding Pads

Sand the last block and wipe off dust. Paint all sides with Peony Pink. Let dry, and lightly sand again and wipe off dust. Paint a second coat of Peony Pink. With Snow White and the Curly Words Stencil, stencil the first “Love” onto the block, let dry and continue…making sure to leave enough space between your words. Using the end of your paint brush, add a dot of Snow White in between each word. Let dry.

When all the signs are dry, finish with your favorite varnish. I like to use Americana Acrylic Sealer Finisher Matte Spray.

Happy Painting and Happy Valentine’s Day!
