Recipe Box using Shara’s Funky Folk Art

I love Shara Reiner’s whimsical take on folk art. I had the Scallop Box that I thought would work great as a recipe box as a gift for my niece’s bridal shower.

I had the Scallop Box that I thought would work great as a recipe box as a gift for my niece’s bridal shower.

Shara’s colors are fresh, perfect for a young bride.  I reduced the original design from the floor cloth design in Shara’s Funky Folk Art Angels & More.

I just wanted the watermelon part of the design for the box and then I added a couple of flowers on the front.

I also wanted to make an apron that coordinated with the box as part of the gift.  I took a black tea towel that I purchased at a local crafts store and added a watermelon pocket and a waistband.

I filled the box with some of my favorite recipes each with a personal note or hint at the end, so each time she made the recipe she would know how much I love her.
