It’s time to brighten up your home decor with charming spring and Easter projects. I have created a fun and easy sign that crafters of all levels can enjoy. I chose to keep it fairly simple, but you can add more details and shading and highlighting if you would like. You can even choose a different font for the lettering, or use a stencil.
Here is what you will need:
DecoArt Americana Paint:
Natural Canvas Fabric Roses (#40207)
Papillon Round Size 2 (#20158)
Papillon Shader Size 20 (#20134)
Large Sanding Pad – Fine/Medium (#70796)
Acrylic Sealer Finisher Matte Spray (#70836)
Gray Graphite Paper (#70141)
First, sand your board and then wipe off the dust with a damp cloth. Then, base coat your board with Snow White using your size 20 Shader Brush. I chose to keep it with more of a white wash look, but if you want a full coverage, then apply a second coat. I did a little light sanding to knock down any wood grain that was raised from my initial coat of paint. If you are doing multiple coats, make sure to lightly sand between coats to keep your surface nice and smooth.
With your Round size 2 and Foliage Green, carefully start painting in the grooves of the vines and the leaves. Let dry.
Apply your lettering to the center of the wreath using the Gray Graphite Paper.
Here is a link to the PDF file for the lettering that I chose to use:
Using your Round brush and Bubblegum Pink, carefully paint in your lettering. I did two coats for a more opaque look to the lettering. Once dry, erase any remaining graphite lines.
With the back end of your Round brush, add dip dots of Bubblegum Pink and Lilac here and there around the wreath to represent berries.
For a finishing touch, I lightly painted three canvas roses. Two with Bubblegum Pink and one with Lilac. I then put them in place.
Finish with a coat of varnish.
I hope this quick and easy project inspires you to create something fun for Spring.
Happy Painting and Happy Creating!
