Americana Decor Chalky Paint is a great way to give something old a fresh new look with ease! I was given a collage frome from the 70s that had never been used, but was a little sad looking and I wanted to give it new life for a special project for my oldest son. After removing the backing and the glass, I set the frame and the matt board on plastic bags and set to work.
Using just Carbon (#15408) for the frame and Everlasting (#15100) for the matt board, this project came together easily. I didn’t even need to sand the frame, just dusted it off and the chalky paint stuck to the frame with ease. I did do two coats of Carbon on the frame to make sure I had a really good coverage and a couple coats of Everlasting to cover the brown tone of the matt board and to make sure that I did not have brush strokes showing. I finished the frame with America Decor Soft Touch Varnish (#72008). Once everything was completely dry, I added my pictures and put it all back together.
I was very happy with how it turned out, and my son loved it! So, remember before you throw something out, look at it again…maybe some Americana Decor Chalky Paint could bring it back to life.
